Joseph Carr created Josh Cellars in 2007 as a tribute to his dad, Josh – Joseph’s way of honoring all that his father had done for him.Joseph Carr is a winemaker and the founder of Josh Cellars. He started his career as a sommelier in New York City and Palm Beach, Florida. He then worked in wineries in France, Spain, Italy, Australia, and Napa Valley.
Early life:
Carr grew up in Berlin, New York, a lumbermill town about 40 minutes outside of Albany
He attended the State University of New York on a wrestling scholarship, but switched to Fine Arts after the program was cut
He studied Fine Arts and Modern Dance and Ballet
Career:
Worked in the restaurant industry as a busboy, server, bartender, and sommelier
Worked as a sommelier at high-end restaurants and hotels, including the Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, New York
Won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for his wine list design at the Sagamore Resort
